Hi,
I've been wondering for a few months whether there are any plans for Silverlight assemblies to be included in the F# distribution. Both projects seem (outwardly) to be completely blind of each other - which seems puzzling given the investment both are receiving and their natural pairing (asynchronous workflows etc.)
One of the most exciting Silverlight demos has to be the DLR Console. This looks similar to the FSI console, but hosted cross-platform in a browser. This sets the scene for a new breed of interactive web application where scientists, mathematicians, engineers and programmers can collaboratively design, model and visualize their domain of interest.
Are there technical or strategic reasons that F# could not be part of this project? Could the dynamic compilation and execution demonstrated in FSI be worked to interact with the ScriptEngine and ScriptHost of the DLR?
I would like to experiment with dynamic compilation in a WPF browser application. Would statically linking to FSharp.Compiler.dll in an application break the terms of the licence? Are there any documents available to help this endevour?
Apologies for the flurry of (perhaps ill-informed) questions, all answers much appreciated.
warmest regards,
Danny
