    F# on Hansel Minutes (again)

F# is the subject of this weeks Hansel Minutes this time with Duncan Campbel:

I listen to it sunday morning and thought it was a very good show.

Aside: I think both Scott and Duncan have been reading "Expert F#" [1] since they both refer to functional languages as beening children of lisp and imperative languages being children of fortran, which is something Erik Meijer talks about in his beautifully written forward.

    Hi Robert,

That's Dustin Campbell -- not Duncan Campbel. :-)   (Believe it or not, that's not the first time that's happened)

You're right that the "children of Lisp" thing came from Erik Meijer's excellent foreword to the book. It was something that I used in my F# talk at CodeMash. I found it to be a great way to set up a group of imperative and OO programmers for the very different world of functional programming. It was this talk that inspired the podcast so I think the idea may have been fresh in our minds.

Apologies about getting your name wrong Dustin, I thought I'd copied it off the Hansel Minutes site so don't know how managed to get it wrong ... probably lack of coffee ;)

good on you Dustin for spreading the good word about F#. (I was tempted to write your name as Dunstin just to see if it annoyed you... but i digress)

you mentioned a talk you'd given about f# -- are the slides, or any other related materials, published anywhere?

(disclaimer -- i'm preparing a talk on F# and keen to steal learn from any materials i can find)

    cheers

I haven't submitted them yet, but the slides should be available at http://codemash.org when they're ready.
